    A Companion in a Star

    I just want a star. . .
    A pretty little shimmer,
    A pretty little piece,
    Of a small shiny star.

O, Star! Won't you be my friend?
    You appear back again,
    You poor, small thing.
    Why don't you accept me?

    But. . .
What if I gave you a present?
    Would you accept me then?
    O, O yes! Yes.

    So here I am,
    After weeks of labor,
I finally bought you the present.

    And here I am,
Why did you not accept my present?
Why did you not accept my present?

I ran so happily up the tallest hill,
In the brightest time of the day to see you.
    Yet, you ignored me.

    You punished me.
And my gift is pointless now.

    Oh, little little star.
    I am now sightless,
    And heartbroken.

    A Companion in a Star

A non-rhyming poem about the want of something special. And then, naturally, from this want turns into action and need and gifts. Only once a precious gift, meaning more than anything to you is shown as a speck of dust to the holy being you envy is when a heart breaks like his. A telescope, a trip to the top of a tall hill, and a shiny sun results in blinded eyes and a broken heart.

If anything, all I can say is.

    He just wanted a companion.

... Is the star the sun? I like the part about wanting to see the star, but I am confused by the part about being blinded and the telescope.

Yes the star is the sun,
And the gift is something to see the sun in a better way.

In essence, this person wishes to be friends with an impossible force and-- one day, reaching further and further and buying a gift (telescope for example,) to see the sun better only blinds him.

Logically, looking at the sun through a telescope isn't the best idea.

    But that's what happened~
    And now he's blinded :)

Blinded though the man might be
He's gained more then just being able to see
If the sun is wrong, just look to the skies
If the sky is grey, just close your eyes

Surely, while he was running the hill
There were others, who wished not to see him wilt
If he's been blinded, no worry, it was only his sight
There are other ways of seeing the light.

Wishing for heavenly beings brings pain and tears
What's wrong with making friends on the earth, down here?

(But overall, I think your poems are getting more and more interesting to read. Have you ever thought about collecting them all into an anthology?) Yay!

    Yet, the star is everything.
    The star is even more,
When the star is the thing you want,
    There are no more doors.

    Logic, perception, ideas.
    They all freeze in time,
As I notice the bright star,
    I wish it was mine.

    But we can never be,
    The star and a man,
    Light-giving and light-wanting,
But there must be a plan.

    There has to be something,
    There has to be.
    And that's why,
    I must see.

And the truth of the story,
Is that I was already blind.
    I lost sight of everything,
Of anything that was once mine.

And a blind man looking for what once was his,
I went to the heat of the hill,
    And prayed,
    And remained still.

    As what am I?
    But a blind man,
Looking for what once was mine.
